Dr Gulcan Garip is the Academic Lead for the MSc and PG Diploma Psychology programmes. Gulcan is a registered Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS), registered Health Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council, and a member of the BPS Division of Health Psychology. She is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She is a committee member of the UDOL Pilot Research group and the UDOL Ethics Committee. Her PhD was on evaluating the feasibility of introducing a web-based weight loss programme for Royal Navy personnel. Her research interests broadly include digital behaviour change interventions, weight management, caregiver experiences and quality of life, mindfulness, and sexual health. She module leads and teaches on Health Promotion and Behaviour Change, the Psychology of Health, the Psychology of Health and Illness, and supervises a number of undergraduate and postgraduate research projects. She is the current chair of the BPS East Midlands Branch.
