I am a Senior Lecturer in International Relations and Diplomacy at the University of Derby, and am currently the Coordinator of the Derby University-Hague Students Exchange programme for International Relations and Diplomacy. My current research interests and scholarly activities include diplomacy, conflict resolution, negotiations, terrorism and political economy of violence.
Over the course of my career, I have developed academic links with a number of national and international organisations, including United Nations Office in Geneva where I currently run an annual field course for my students. My knowledge of international institutions and my educational training in different social science subjects, together with contacts I have developed over the years with international organisations, have given me the opportunity to approach the study of International Relations and Diplomacy from an inter-disciplinary perspective.
I would describe myself as a passionate, resourceful and creative academic who believes in the informative and transformative power of education. I came into academia to give young people knowledge and confidence that would enable them to make a positive contribution to the world.
